Volunteer Opportunities 

Volunteer Research & Advocacy Manager

Chiquita Jackson Enterprise is seeking a qualified and dedicated Volunteer Research and Advocacy Manager to lead research projects on poverty alleviation in Maryland and Michigan. The role involves defining research questions, developing proposals, managing research projects, and advocating for positive change based on evidence-driven insights.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage research projects on poverty alleviation in Maryland and Michigan, considering social, cultural, and gender norms in different communities.

  • Define research questions, topics, and timelines, and develop comprehensive research proposals.

  • Write, edit, and ensure quality control for research reports and presentations.

  • Compile and share research and data related to local, national institutions, relevant ministries, and donors as needed.

  • Develop issue-oriented advocacy content for communication channels such as emails, websites, and social media.

  • Track local and national legislative and policy issues relevant to Chiquita Jackson Enterprise, developing strategies to keep the board, staff, and community informed.

  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with local authorities, sub-national and national institutions/ministries.

  • Ensure evidence-based data on program/project implementation is documented and available to CJEnterprise, donors, and others.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Experience in managing research projects, with a focus on poverty alleviation and community development.

  • Strong research, writing, and editing skills.

  • Familiarity with advocacy strategies and content development.

  • Knowledge of local and national legislative and policy issues related to poverty and social impact.

  • Ability to build and maintain strategic partnerships with diverse stakeholders.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Volunteer Strategic Partnerships Manager

Chiquita Jackson Enterprise is seeking a qualified and dedicated Volunteer Partnership Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining effective relationships with community and national organizations to maximize the impact of Chiquita Jackson Enterprise efforts. The Partnership Manager is responsible for working with organizations, companies, and individuals to promote partnerships and create opportunities for our community members to make meaningful contributions. This role requires excellent communication, organizational, and management skills.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategies to maximize the impact of existing partnerships

  • Establish new partnerships with individuals, organizations, and companies

  • Design and implement CJEnterprise engagement plans

  • Collect data on program effectiveness

  • Assist with organizing events such as recruitment fairs and community service projects.

  • Research best practices in community empowerment and share findings with partners

  • Evaluate existing programs to identify areas of improvement.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g. nonprofit management or social work) or equivalent experience

  • At least three years of experience in volunteer management or a related field

Board of Director

Chiquita Jackson Enterprise is looking for committed board members to serve on our organization's governing body. The board member's responsibilities include advising on strategic plans, participating in evaluations, and monitoring its financial affairs. You should also prepare for board meetings, attend them regularly, and actively participate in them.

To be successful as a board member, you should have significant professional leadership experience and strong diplomatic skills. An outstanding board member will be passionately committed to the organization's mission.

Board Member Responsibilities:

  • Knowing the organization's mission, programs, policies, and needs.

  • Preparing for meetings by reviewing the agenda and supporting documentation.

  • Regularly attending board meetings and participating actively and conscientiously.

  • Keeping up with issues and trends that affect the organization.

  • Participating in the evaluation of business operations and executives.

  • Approving audit reports, budgets, and business decisions.

  • Contributing to the development of policies and strategic plans.

  • Understanding the organization's financial affairs and ensuring fiduciary responsibilities are met.

  • Ensuring the organization complies with legal requirements.

  • Maintaining confidentiality on all internal organizational affairs.

Board Member Requirements:

  • Proven track record in an executive leadership role.

  • Previous board experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of the organization and the relevant industry.

  • Sufficient time availability for board duties.

  • Strong diplomatic and interpersonal skills.
